Over time, major public health issues, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, have had a multi-level impact on modern societies, with the health, education, labour and economic sectors not unaffected. The high transmissibility of the new virus combined with a lack of knowledge of its behaviour has created a climate of great uncertainty, fear and anxiety, while the social distancing measures adopted by the majority of states have brought about decisive changes in the mental health of the population. An equally important parameter, however, which has not had the time to be systematically investigated, is the impact of isolation in the home on people with COVID-19.
Difficulties related both to practical issues faced by these patients, such as securing care, and to changes in their psychological state resulting from social and intra-family confinement. This qualitative study aims to explore the aforementioned knowledge gap, with the aim of providing the scientific community with valuable information on the needs of these patients, as well as on the effectiveness of the practices implemented so far, in order to optimally manage mildly affected COVID-19 patients in a subsequent epidemic wave and the induced mitigation of the disease's impact
